There is a history behind every variety of cat breeds. Similarly this laperm kitten also has some history of its breed. This kitten is a result of spontaneous mutation and the first kitten of this breed born in the year 1982. Richard koehl and Linda owner of a cherry farm in a place called The Dalles in Oregon was the founder of this breed. These cherry farm owners obtained this breed from the farm cats which they used for pest control. The first kitten was born with no hairs. But they had a tabby pattern of skin. After eight to nine weeks of their birth the kitten started showing curly hairs. After four to five months the kitten showed curly soft hairs all over its body. These curly hairs have the wavy nature. The laperm kitten history says that the tabby pattern skin and the wavy and curly hairs made the appearance of this kitten beautiful.

The laperm kitten history also says that this cat variety belongs to the class of Rex Breed. The first kitten of this breed was fond by koehl and Linda. The first kitten was a female. This kitten was initially used by them in the farms. Later as this kitten got injured it was kept in home. It is only at that time the owners started to realize the affectionate nature of this kitten. Then this cat gave birth to nearly five male laperm kittens. The owners found that the kittens having the same appearance like their mother. As days went on more of this variety cats was found in the field. As people started showing their interest in this breed of cats Koehl did a research on this breed variety and named this kitten variety as laperm because of their soft coats and curly hairs.
